UNWAVE company received a license to produce OCTOPUS interceptors
Ukrainian electronic warfare manufacturer UNWAVE has received a license for the serial production of OCTOPUS interceptor drones, which are positioned as a tool for shooting down "Shaheeds".
Ukrainian electronic warfare manufacturer UNWAVE has received a license for the serial production of OCTOPUS interceptor drones, which are positioned as a tool for shooting down "Shaheeds".
According to Military, the company is already setting up mass production and showed the interceptor at the MITS and Azov Corps Defense Technology Horizons 2026 conference. A UNWAVE representative said that after the launch of the line, they will test serial samples, and then they are counting on government contracts.
The license transfer means that the manufacturer receives a full package of OCTOPUS technical documentation. The project itself was created by military engineers, and the companies are connected to production within the framework of the From Army to Manufacturer program, which is supposed to shorten the path from a ready-made military solution to mass production at the factory. The material also states that the drone is maximally automated and is capable of capturing a target in the terminal section of the flight, but other characteristics are not disclosed.
The interceptor is designed to combat Shahed-type strike UAVs and their localized variants, including the Geranium and Harpy. For the manufacturer, this means a faster start without a separate, lengthy development phase, and for the state, potentially a greater choice of suppliers for a single standardized product.
OCTOPUS has already been put into mass production by several Ukrainian companies, and in late November 2025, Ukraine and the United Kingdom agreed on licensed production of interceptors in the United Kingdom. In mid-January 2026, the first successful tests of these drones and preparations for their delivery to Ukraine were reported.
