According to a Rakuten Viber study, Ukrainians have frequently encountered cyberscams over the past year. Have respondents become more cybersecurity-savvy?
About the research
More than 35 thousand users took part in the survey on the official Rakuten Viber Ukraine channel.
Research methodology — anonymous online survey, n>36,000. Key age group — 34-45 years old, over 50% of respondents under the age of 45.
Ukrainians answered whether they had encountered cyber and telephone scammers during the last year, the answers were as follows:
- Yes — 62%;
- No, but heard about such cases from people around them — 30%;
- No, I haven’t even heard of such cases — 8%.
The next question was whether you think you have become more knowledgeable about cybersecurity over the past year. Here is what Ukrainians answered:
- Rather, I do everything for this — 39% (21% in 2024);
- Not interested in this issue — 28% (50% in 2024);
- Rather not, purposefully did not read anything — 21% (17% in 2024);
- And before, I was pretty good at this — 7% (6% in 2024);
- I have improved a lot in this topic, now I can give lectures — 5% (6% in 2024).
