Kosovan: "One of my business partners was recently 'busified' and we don't have the tools to book investors"

CEO of IT company MacPaw and co-founder of venture fund SMRK Oleksandr Kosovan spoke about the "busification" of his business partner during an event dedicated to the 3rd anniversary of "Diya.City", a journalist from dev.ua reports.

"Over the past year, I would note a lot of negativity, which, unfortunately, is happening in the investment field. From what I see, the state does not need investors and investments, because such actions are being taken that harm the investment climate and do not create conditions for investment. We, as a country, need investments for survival, and companies need them for development," the entrepreneur said.

He gave an example of when one of his business partners was recently "busified." "Unfortunately, we don't have the tools to book investors, of which there are not many in the country. I'm not saying that investors are a separate caste of people, but changes are clearly needed here," Kosovan concluded.

Let us remind you that SMRK Fund is a Ukrainian fund that invests in venture capital investments in startups at various stages of development. The company was founded in the fall of 2013 and has been supporting IT products since then, focusing on seed and Round A financing. The fund was founded by top manager Andriy Dovzhenko and CEO of MacPaw Oleksandr Kosovan.

In 2023, Oleksandr Kosovan said that SMRK closed four deals. The average check is from $300,000 to $2 million. Oleksandr believes that the biggest niche in the long term after IT is healthcare and biotechnology.
