Demand is fueled by a wave of crypto millionaires, whose numbers have grown 40% in a year and who have become the main customers of «golden visa» programs.

As Business Insider writes, citing the Henley & Partners Crypto Wealth Report 2025, the number of crypto-asset wealth holders and the demand for «golden visas» are growing in tandem: consultants are recording a sharp transition from isolated requests five years ago to regular requests from tech entrepreneurs and young private clients.

The logic is simple: crypto investors’ capital is mostly held in digital assets, and converting large sums into fiat involves time, fees, and potential tax implications. In contrast, blockchain payments are processed in minutes and provide predictable tracking of the origin of funds. Governments and developers are responding to demand: in a number of jurisdictions in the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Persian Gulf, bitcoin is accepted as payment for real estate — effectively a «gateway» to local residency or citizenship-by-investment programs. According to market participants, this model has only become possible in recent years, as official mechanisms for accepting crypto payments have matured.

Typically, the conditions of a «golden visa» include the purchase of real estate for a set amount, investment in a business, bonds or a contribution to a state fund. For the crypto community, this is not only a new level of mobility (right of residence, visa-free travel, access to asset protection), but also a way to diversify jurisdictional risks without a forced exit from crypto to fiat. At the same time, states remain cautious: KYC/AML procedures are in place, and to reduce price risks in settlements, stablecoins or instant conversion to local currency are often used.

Experts expect the trend to continue: new crypto payment channels will be opened selectively, but this is enough to satisfy the demand from owners of large digital assets — from early «hodlers» to entrepreneurs who have left crypto projects.

Henley & Partners estimates the high net worth crypto investor community as one of the most dynamic segments of private equity. Its interest in investment migration is fueled by three factors: global mobility, tax and legal risk planning, and the technical convenience of payments in digital currencies. For recipient countries, this is a new source of investment in real estate and the real sector, and for investors, it is a quick «airport» tool without complicated banking procedures.
