From now on, Kyivstar customers can use fifth-generation mobile Internet abroad. The option works without additional settings and changes in the tariff, and 5G networks are available thanks to cooperation with foreign operators.
According to the company, from July 21, 2025, 5G communication will be available in 15 countries around the world, including Poland, Italy, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Latvia, Iceland, Vietnam, Egypt, and others. To connect, all you need is a smartphone with 5G support, a USIM or eSIM card, and activate the option in your phone’s settings.
The use of 5G in roaming is included in the current tariff and does not require separate activation. This became possible thanks to the expansion of international partnerships and technical preparation for the implementation of the fifth generation of communications in Ukraine. CEO of Kyivstar Oleksandr Komarov emphasizes that this will improve the quality of mobile services for Ukrainians abroad.
5G complements the existing service «Roaming like at home», which allows you to use package minutes, SMS and internet in 28 countries around the world under the terms of the Ukrainian tariff. In 2025, about 3 million customers took advantage of this opportunity, most of them in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary. The average monthly data consumption in roaming was 7 GB, and most of the calls (85%) were made within the network.
Ukraine has not yet launched a full-fledged 5G network, but operators are preparing the infrastructure for this step. According to industry experts, the introduction of the fifth generation of communications in the country may take place after the allocation of appropriate frequencies and the completion of technology testing.
