According to MediaSat, the amount was announced by Kyivstar CEO and President Oleksandr Komarov during a conference call following the annual reporting results. It is UAH 420 million for the Shtorm provider, which operates in Kropyvnytskyi, Oleksandria and 132 other settlements in Kirovohrad region and serves over 50,000 subscribers.
For Kyivstar, this deal is important not only as an expansion of its presence in a new region. Komarov directly linked it to the strategy of strengthening in the fixed broadband segment. According to him, the acquisition adds more than 50,000 new broadband customers to the operator’s ecosystem and supports the course of strengthening its position in the home Internet both through organic growth and M&A.
This logic is also reinforced by the company’s internal indicators. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the share of home Internet users who simultaneously have a subscription to Kyivstar TV increased by more than 3 percentage points and reached 48%. In addition, the number of subscribers who use not only mobile communication, but also at least one digital application in addition, increased by 18% year-on-year, to 7.3 million. Such customers bring the operator an average income of $5.20 per month, which is 37% higher than the average mobile subscriber.
Shtorm itself also appears to be a rather attractive asset. According to YouControl, the revenue of ISP Shtorm LLC for the first nine months of 2025 increased 4.7 times compared to the same period in 2024 and reached UAH 94.86 million. The company’s net profit for the same period increased 17 times, to UAH 30.39 million. The provider’s authorized capital is UAH 4.5 million, and its beneficiaries on a parity basis were Vitaliy Oliynyk and Yulia Makarenko.
Separately, Kyivstar emphasized that after the deal, it will retain the provider’s full staff, which is more than 100 employees, including engineers, designers, and service center specialists. They will continue to be responsible for network support and work with subscribers in the region.
In a broader context, this is not the first such acquisition for the operator. In September 2024, Kyivstar acquired LanTrace from Boryspil for $2 million. That is, the current deal with Shtorm does not look like a one-time case, but part of a consistent strategy of buying up local providers to strengthen its position in the fixed Internet market.
