Lanet overtook Kyivstar in 10G-PON coverage in Kyiv: over 100 thousand subscribers connected

Provider Lanet announced the launch of the first segment of the 10G-PON (XGPON) network in Kyiv, covering more than 107 thousand households. This was reported by the company’s director Marian Ivasyuk on Facebook. According to him, by the fall Lanet plans to put into operation another segment for 50 thousand connections. Thus, the company already has the largest 10G-PON coverage in Kyiv, ahead of Kyivstar, which covered 90 thousand subscribers back in May .
Lanet has also launched new PON tariffs, which are already available on the official website. The speed shown by network users is impressive: as can be seen from the attached screenshot from the Speedtest application, the Lanet network records download speeds of 7016 Mbps and upload speeds of 2266 Mbps with an ultra-low ping of just 1.77 ms.
What is 10G-PON?
This is a new generation passive optical network standard that provides up to 10 Gbps of download speed and up to 2.5 Gbps of upload speed. This is 4–10 times faster than traditional GPON. The technology is particularly effective in high traffic conditions: it allows dozens of subscribers to simultaneously receive gigabit speeds without any degradation in quality.
Maintaining this growth in coverage is difficult, as XGPON requires a complete modernization of equipment on both the provider and subscriber sides. However, Lanet seems to be investing actively and aggressively in this transformation.
UTELS was the first in Ukraine to launch a commercial 10G-PON connection in 2023. Kyivstar and Triolan later launched their pilot zones, but Lanet is currently demonstrating the fastest expansion within the capital. 10G-PON is becoming a key direction for operators who want to withstand the load from video content, streaming, remote work and cloud services.

Насправді ще у листопаді 2023 саме Apelsin.Net першим публічно анонсував запуск покриття 10G GPON у Києві і був першим з таким тарифом для фізиків, потім — Коло, Павутина, і вже за ними — Утелс. Саме в такій послідовності.
