According to Engadget, LinkedIn is updating user profiles to allow multiple current jobs and founder status, which has increased by 70% over the past year. Other innovations include a “network” feed designed exclusively for posts from existing contacts without algorithmic recommendations, and a digital “business card” for mobile wallets.
For founders and business owners, the “Consultation Sessions” feature is being introduced, which allows for paid individual meetings without a commission from the platform (at launch, the feature is available to US users with a business premium subscription). In addition, tools for content authors are being expanded: a new analytics dashboard and a revenue sharing program for pre-roll video ads.
LinkedIn Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan pointed to a trend toward an increase in new businesses, but cautioned about the role of technology.
"There are definitely more people starting businesses now. With AI you can create all these incredible things, but I don’t know if it has necessarily made it easier to start a business," he said.
