Meta is developing a photorealistic 3D avatar based on artificial intelligence that will imitate Mark Zuckerberg and respond to requests from company employees.
This is reported by the Financial Times. The digital twin learns from the CEO’s manner of speaking, behavior and public statements, as well as his vision of the company’s strategy. The avatar will be able to give advice to employees and answer their questions in situations where Zuckerberg is unavailable or does not want to personally participate in communication. According to the FT, Meta has been working on the project for some time.
The project is part of the company’s broader focus on creating interactive AI characters. In parallel, Meta is developing a separate AI agent specifically for Zuckerberg: it will search for information and process requests to help the CEO in his daily work. In this way, the company is building two levels of AI assistance at once: one for the leader, the other on his behalf.
The timing of the avatar’s launch for internal use is not yet known.
In the fall of 2023, Meta launched AI characters on its social networks, including avatars with the appearance of celebrities such as Snoop Dogg and Kendall Jenner. However, those characters were focused on entertainment content for a wide audience. Zuckerberg’s own avatar has a fundamentally different purpose — corporate communication within the company with more than 70,000 employees.
