The Ministry of Digital Affairs returned USR data to open access, but hid information about defense enterprises

The Single State Register is again available on the Open Data Portal after being closed in 2022. At the same time, it was published in a modified format: some information was removed from the public version so that businesses and citizens could check companies, but data that could harm security remained protected.
According to the Ministry of Digital Affairs, open access to the Unified State Register was curtailed for security reasons at the beginning of a full-scale war. Now the register has been returned to the portal in a way that combines transparency and security: information needed for everyday checks is again public, while information about defense enterprises is not disclosed.
The department explains that returning the Unified State Register to open access is important for business and the market: entrepreneurs can more quickly check counterparties before transactions, media and public organizations will be able to track changes in company owners and managers, and IT teams will be able to build services that automatically update data on legal entities and individual entrepreneurs and reduce the amount of manual work.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs also reported that they plan to update the information on the portal every week so that users work with current data, and not with a «snapshot» from several months ago.
Until 2022, the Unified State Register was one of the most popular sources for checking companies and preparing investigations, but due to military risks, its public version was closed. You can download the current version of the data on the portal at this link .
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on the creation of a system that will collect data from state registers and display them in the format of analytics and graphs. Initially, the tool will work for civil servants, and later they promise to open the public part for citizens.
