75% faster than competitors: Qualcomm introduces Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and X2 Elite processors for Windows PCs
Qualcomm has announced two new processors for Windows 11 laptops — the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and Snapdragon X2 Elite. The company promises best-in-class performance, fast offline AI, and long battery life in thin and light models.
Qualcomm has announced two new processors for Windows 11 laptops — the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and Snapdragon X2 Elite. The company promises best-in-class performance, fast offline AI, and long battery life in thin and light models.
The manufacturer’s press release states that both new products are part of the Snapdragon X Series portfolio and are aimed at «ultra-premium» and premium PCs. Source:
Both platforms feature the 3rd generation Qualcomm Oryon processors with the claimed «best in Windows» performance per watt. The X2 Elite Extreme version has the most aggressive settings: up to 75% higher CPU performance compared to competitors at the same power, as well as new Adreno graphics with 2,3x better energy efficiency compared to the previous generation. The Hexagon NPU with 80 TOPS is especially emphasized — according to Qualcomm, this is the world’s fastest laptop NPU for parallel Copilot± scenarios and local «agent» models.
Snapdragon X2 Elite is aimed at productive work and multimedia loads: up to 31% more performance at the same power and up to 43% less power consumption than its predecessor. Both platforms are designed for «multi-day» autonomy in thin cases and work without charging during resource-intensive tasks (editing, analytics, 3D, games-services).
«The X2 Elite extends our leadership in PCs—a leap in performance, AI, and uptime that delivers the experience users deserve,» said Kedar Kondap, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm’s computing and gaming businesses. X2 Elite laptops are scheduled to ship in the first half of 2026; details and a press release will be announced later.
Over the past two years, the Windows ecosystem has been actively transitioning to an «AI PC,» where a powerful NPU for local models, translation, image generation, and cloud-free assistants is key. The Snapdragon X line moves Windows-on-Arm toward higher autonomy and «silent» performance, and the 80 TOPS ceiling for Copilot+ and multi-threaded AI scenarios sets a new bar for the next wave of laptops with a focus on offline AI and energy efficiency.
