Saudi Aramco, considered the largest oil company in the world, has become interested in Ukrainian interceptor drones to protect its facilities from possible air attacks.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Saudi Aramco is in talks with Ukrainian manufacturers SkyFall and Wild Hornets about a possible purchase of interceptor drones. These are solutions that the company is considering as one of the options for protecting oil fields and other critical infrastructure against the risk of attacks from Iran.
The American publication writes that Saudi Aramco is trying to act quickly and in matters of protection against drones is actually ahead of not only regional competitors, but also its own state structures. For the company, this is not an abstract interest in new technology, but a pragmatic search for solutions for the security of facilities that may become targets of attacks.
The focus of the negotiations is on Ukrainian developments that have already been tested in full-scale war. Such interceptor drones are designed to destroy enemy drones in the air, and demand for them outside Ukraine is growing due to the spread of cheap and massive aerial threats.
Separately, the WSJ notes that Saudi Arabian representatives have also discussed the possible purchase of electronic warfare equipment with Ukrainian Phantom Defense. This indicates that the interest is not only in individual interceptors, but in a broader set of tools for countering drones.
For Ukrainian companies, such attention is also important because it shows the export potential of solutions created for real combat needs. If the negotiations reach agreements, this will be another signal that Ukrainian defense technologies are already perceived not only as front-line developments, but also as a product for protecting strategic infrastructure in other countries.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how, according to representatives of the Ukrainian defense industry, the Pentagon and at least one of the Persian Gulf countries are negotiating the purchase of Ukrainian interceptors to repel Iranian drone attacks.
