In December 2024, Russian shelling damaged the building where MacPaw Space is located. In mid-February, MacPaw announced that it had reopened its office after a Russian missile attack that damaged the Toronto-Kyiv business center. But according to Alexander Kosovan, this became an additional challenge and a factor in rethinking the company’s approach to physical spaces.
«That’s why we’ve been considering this difficult step for a long time. MacPaw Space means a lot to our entire team, but now is the time to focus resources on where we can bring the greatest benefit — developing innovative products and continuing to support Ukraine,» said MacPaw CEO.
He recalled how space evolved:
- In 2021, MacPaw Space opened its doors to visitors for the first time as an innovative space, a place of development and change, a venue for the country’s iconic events, and a volunteer hub.
- At MacPaw Space, we have hosted over 400 events, bringing together about 50,000 guests.
- Within the walls of MacPaw Space, new media and innovative products were launched, conferences and community meetings were organized, hackathons were held, and fundraisers were held to help the country.
- At charity events, we managed to raise about 8 million UAH to support our defenders.
- MacPaw Space was preparing to launch Europe’s largest permanent exhibition of vintage Apple technology.
- In the first days of the full-scale invasion, anxious backpacks were collected here, first aid kits were packed, and aid was coordinated.
- MacPaw has managed to make MacPaw Space fully inclusive.
