Recruiter Anna Kotenko received a call from a debt collector regarding a loan debt taken out by a candidate with whom she had only corresponded about the vacancy. “He gave the go-ahead for you to pay it,” the proofreader said, to which the recruiter was not at a loss and answered very aptly.

"Imagine: Monday morning. The sun is shining through the window, I'm sitting at the table drinking delicious coffee from a coffee shop near my house. I'm scrolling through my news feed, sorting through my mail and messages. I get an SMS: 'Citizen Full name (I won't write it here), phone number, has agreed to collect money from you and your entourage,'" Anna Kotenko said on LinkedIn.

At first, Anna thought they were scammers, but she checked the number in messengers.

"I was surprised when I saw that I had been corresponding with a citizen about a vacancy. He asked about the conditions and disappeared. I thought about writing and asking what the hell was going on, but the man talked me out of it," says the recruiter.

A few weeks passed, Anna had already forgotten about it, and one day on her way to the store, she received a phone call from a debt collector, or as the man called himself, a "debt inspector."

The following conversation then took place:

"— Good afternoon, Anna. I am a debt inspector at the financial institution "Somewhere Credit" (I don't remember the name).
— Good afternoon.
— Do you know citizen Full Name?
— No, I don't know.
"That's strange. The thing is, he owes me a certain amount. He gave his consent for you to pay it."
— Did I understand correctly that a stranger to me randomly agreed to let me repay his debt?
" He gave your number as a guarantor. He doesn't pay the debt, he gave the go-ahead to collect money from you."

At this point, Anna wanted to hang up, but she became curious about what would happen next, so she continued the conversation.

"— I did not give either verbal or written consent to be a guarantor for a person I did not know."
"But he gave his consent. What are we going to do with it?"
" According to your scheme, I give my consent for you to repay this debt on your own. All the best ."

After that, Anna didn't receive any more calls, but she still wrote to the candidate. "I want to know for sure if this was done on purpose," the recruiter explained. But so far, the man is silent.

"That's the story. You build trusting relationships with candidates, and then they take out a loan on you," noted recruiter Lyudmila Bazilevska.

Software Engineer Stanislav V. joked: "They didn't provide feedback, they got credit) The market dictates new rules."

HR Iryna Karieva found herself in a similar situation: “There was the same situation.
"I didn't write anything to the candidate, but I remembered him well."
