"Impossible to lose course": Ukrainian Blue Arrow created navigation for drones without GPS

In a situation where the enemy is actively jamming satellite signals, Ukrainian developers have made a breakthrough: an autonomous visual navigation system allows drones to operate without GPS. This changes the rules of the game on the front.
The breakthrough technology was announced by Mykhailo Fedorov on his Facebook page. The development is being carried out by the Ukrainian company Blue Arrow, which is a member of the state defense cluster Brave1. According to Fedorov, drones equipped with this system can «reach targets even without GPS» and are not susceptible to jamming or spoofing. As the minister emphasized, it is impossible to «land» such a drone.
The published video shows the drone traveling a combat route in the field with satellite positioning completely turned off. The technology works autonomously: the drone records speed, direction, calculates azimuth and compares video images with a map of the area. The operator remains in the role of an observer — only corrects the guidance and confirms the target hit.
Fedorov also noted that the next stage is fully autonomous missions with partial pilot control. This opens up a new level of effectiveness on the battlefield, especially in conditions where electronic warfare is the main countermeasure tool.
After February 24, 2022, Ukraine has become a global laboratory for unmanned solutions. The Ministry of Digital Affairs, together with Brave1, supports technological startups that can give an advantage on the front line. Blue Arrow is one example of how precision engineering and combat experience are transformed into real solutions that not only help, but save lives.
Previously, our feed also published material about how a UAV from the Ukrainian manufacturer «Wild Hornets», which was probably equipped with electronic warfare equipment, intercepted and «suppressed» a Russian attack drone «Molniya-2» in the air.
