«We have always loved creating games where the game systems determine everything, and the player’s freedom of action directly affects the plot and provides a unique gaming experience», — the developers noted in a press release.
According to them, after many years of working on online games, they decided to go back to their roots and create Forest Reigns, a single-player FPS with an extensive storyline, world exploration, survival, RPG elements, and an interactive environment. The latter is something VG pays special attention to.

Forest Reigns is set five years after a pandemic nearly wiped out humanity, and players are transported to Paris, where «primordial beauty intertwines with the deadly traps of a sentient forest.»

They claim that each mission will reveal new secrets as players explore the dark and twisted corners of the altered metropolis.

Recall that the studio VG Entertainment (formerly known as Vostok Games) was founded by former STALKER developers who left GSC Gamer World after the cancellation of STALKER 2 in 2012. It is best known for the f2p game Survarium, which was an attempt to transfer the STALKER formula to an online shooter. The project received mixed reviews and was completely shut down and removed from Steam in 2022.
