A new scam is spreading on social media and Telegram channels, in which users are offered to buy supposedly lost or unclaimed Nova Poshta parcels. The company claims that it has nothing to do with such «sales».
«Nova Poshta» reported that it does not sell its customers' parcels either after the expiration of the storage period or after refusal to receive them. The company explained: if the recipient has not extended the storage or has not picked up the shipment, it is not put up for sale, but is disposed of in accordance with internal procedures. Therefore, the announcements about «profitable boxes» with unclaimed shipments are not related to the carrier’s real services.
The scheme itself is based on the lure of so-called surprise boxes. Scammers promise that inside there may be appliances, gadgets, branded items or other valuable goods that were allegedly not taken by previous recipients. In reality, according to the company, people receive random cheap items that do not match the advertising, or simply lose money after paying an unknown seller.
Separately, Novaya Poshta drew attention to another detail: scammers can use the names of real companies as «senders» to create the impression of a real logistics operation. This is what makes the scheme more convincing: the user sees a familiar brand, a story about «unclaimed parcels» and perceives it as a legal sale, although in reality it is about manipulating trust in a well-known service.
The company urged not to follow suspicious links, not to pay for such offers, and to check any promotions only through official channels. Beck: Nova Poshta emphasized that all official information about its services and activities appears only on the website, in the mobile application, on official pages on social networks, and in SMS messages.
