OpenAI has launched a new Library feature in ChatGPT, which automatically saves all uploaded and created files and allows you to reuse them in new chats.
According to OpenAI, the new section is available in the web version of ChatGPT and works as a separate repository where documents, images, spreadsheets and other files are stored. The user can open the Library in the side menu, browse all materials or find the desired one through search and filters.
Files are automatically added to the library. This applies to both downloaded documents and those created in ChatGPT itself. To reuse a file, you can add it to a new chat via the attachments menu.
The feature is available to users with Plus, Pro, and Business subscriptions. However, it is not yet available in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
OpenAI has also set technical limits. The maximum size of a single file is 512 MB. Text documents are limited to 2 million tokens, spreadsheets are limited to approximately 50 MB, and images are limited to 20 MB.
Files are stored in the user’s account until they are manually deleted. Once deleted, they are immediately inaccessible and can take up to 30 days to be fully purged from the OpenAI infrastructure.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how OpenAI plans to combine the ChatGPT application, the Codex programming platform, and the browser into a single desktop «super app» to simplify the user experience.
