As reported9meters, the likely appearance of ChatGPT-5 is expected as early as July 2025 — that’s when OpenAI will stop supporting the GPT-4.5 API, which logically coincides with the company’s traditional policy of transitioning to a new generation of models. Previous releases — GPT-4.5 (February) and GPT-4.1 (May) — demonstrated gradual preparation for a larger launch.
The new GPT-5 will be more than just a language model, but a true multi-functional intelligent interface. According to tech insiders, the model will be able to process text, images, audio and video within a single session, supporting full multimodality. In addition, a key upgrade will be long-term memory: ChatGPT-5 will be able to store critical data from past interactions, which will open the way to deeper personalization.
Another innovation is the integration of all OpenAI tools in one environment: code writing, image generation, web search, voice queries. This unification of the interface should increase productivity and make work easier for both developers and ordinary users.
Accuracy has also been improved: GPT-5, according to OpenAI, has significantly reduced the level of factual errors thanks to an expanded dataset and an updated architecture. The model also demonstrates significant progress in logical thinking and independent generation of complex solutions. These characteristics should make it the basis for autonomous agents capable of working almost without human intervention — such as AutoGPT.
GPT-5 development
Signals of readiness for release appeared as early as February 2025, when OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that GPT-5 would be ready «in months, not weeks.» Since then, the company has consistently adhered to its update schedule, increasing functionality with each new release. According to Platform X insiders, internal testing is already underway, and some developers who received early access have declared the new model’s «impressive versatility.»
OpenAI is also preparing an ecosystem based on GPT-5, which the company calls the «Apple approach»: full integration of tools, a closed environment, intuitive interaction. It is expected that the new AI will be used not only in ChatGPT, but also in business solutions, digital assistants, support services, autonomous systems and even industrial devices. Combined with the activity of competitors — Google, Anthropic, xAI and Meta — the July release of GPT-5 could become the most resonant technological event of the summer.
