According to OpenAI, Prism works as a cloud-based workspace for preparing academic materials with formulas, tables, and bibliographies. It allows you to write drafts, see the completed document immediately, and edit it with collaborators in real time without installing programs locally or manually configuring environments.
Prism has a built-in AI assistant based on GPT-5.2 that works with the full context of the manuscript. It can help with proofreading, improving the structure and logic of the presentation, formatting sections and equations, and updating tables and references as you edit the text. Separately, OpenAI notes the ability to search for and add scientific literature directly from the editor interface, in particular through synchronization with Zotero.
The service also supports comments for review, automatic error checking, and collaborative editing without version conflicts. According to the company, Prism has no limits on the number of projects, co-authors, or the speed and duration of document compilation. During the demonstrations, the product was used not only for articles, but also for creating training courses and sets of assignments for students.
Prism is already available for free to users of personal ChatGPT accounts. In the future, OpenAI plans to open access to the tool for educational and corporate plans, while the separate Crixet service, on which Prism is built, will no longer be offered as a standalone product.
LaTeX is the standard for scientific publication design in many fields, but working with formulas, diagrams, and bibliographies often requires significant technical effort. Prism combines text writing, layout, and working with sources in one environment and tries to reduce the share of routine work by integrating AI.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that OpenAI has implemented an «age prediction» function in ChatGPT. It is designed to identify minors and set reasonable restrictions on the content in their dialogues.
