According to Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, the addition of the “anti-Shahed” interceptors was a response to requests from military units. Before the launch, the Defense Ministry conducted a survey among units to determine the models of interceptors that they already use and consider the most effective. After that, the Defense Procurement Agency of the Defense Ministry signed contracts with six manufacturers of drones of this type, which will ensure supply through DOT-Chain Defence.
Shmyhal emphasized that this is the second "interceptor" direction in DOT-Chain Defence. Previously, tactical-level interceptor drones appeared on the marketplace to counter enemy reconnaissance and strike UAVs directly on the front line. Then the mechanics started with three Ukrainian manufacturers, and later the list of suppliers was expanded with three more contracts.
Separately, the minister cited the figure for actual deliveries: as of the end of December, the military had received almost 5,000 interceptor drones through DOT-Chain Defence. The Ministry of Defense explains the expansion of the nomenclature by the logic of digital support: through such tools, units have faster access to the necessary means, and contracts with manufacturers provide predictability in deliveries.
