Volodymyr Mihav, an indie developer from Kropyvnytskyi known under the pseudonym Hidalgo Code, has shown off a new video of his comedy sokoban-style puzzle game Olaf the Boozer. It started as a small project at a game jam, but quickly turned into a full-fledged game.

«Players will guide Olaf through the aftermath of his stormy night, retracing the dwarf’s uncertain journey through shattered taverns, looted farms, and haunted sawmills. The king rages, the townspeople point fingers, the chickens cluck angrily, and Olaf must go from being a ruthless glutton to cleaning up after himself, sobering up, and at least somehow clearing his beer-stained reputation,» reads the description of Olaf the Boozer in the press release.
Players will help a hungover dwarf recreate the events of the previous night and sort out the mess he left behind during a compact two-hour journey. The developer compares the project to the film «The Hangover in Vegas» with the addition of a classic puzzle adventure — «a true detective investigation into alcoholic chaos.»
Key features:
Time Travel Puzzles. The player can rewind time to figure out their drunken adventures, solve puzzles, and watch other characters follow in your uncertain footsteps.
Clean up the mess. Olaf will transform from a drunken thug into a responsible handyman and fix everything he broke last night.
Classic fantasy setting. The game depicts a world where dwarves get epic hangovers, ghosts inhabit sawmills, and chickens never forget an image.
Pixel graphics. The tale of redemption is told through picturesque pixelated landscapes and characters that convey all the comical and mysteriousness of Olaf’s situation.
Olaf the Boozer will be coming to PC, but there is no exact release date yet. The game has a Steam page where you can add it to your wishlist. There is also an old demo on Itch.io, and a new one will be released as part of Steam Next Fest in February 2025.
