“Over $10,000 per month from one creator.” How Ukrainian agencies work to “promote” OnlyFans models

With the start of a full-scale war in Ukraine, there has been a second boom in agencies promoting erotic content on the OnlyFans platform. Top companies in this business work with a hundred models at the same time and can earn more than $10,000 per month from one creator. Forbes spoke with three owners of OnlyFans agencies and five models who have worked with them. Here are the highlights from the material.

How agencies work

“We launched shortly before the start of the full-scale war, and now we have over 300 OnlyFans model accounts,” says one of the agency’s founders, Oleksandr. Oleksandr refused to say what field he worked in before founding it.

The team has over 800 people who take a polygraph test every 2–3 months, he says. These are managers who talk to subscribers, marketers, employees of the account registration department and payment system settings. “Salaries in the field range from $500 to $5,000, depending on the department and the person’s experience,” says the owner of another agency, who asked to be called Max Onlik. The portfolio of his business with a team of 40 people includes about 50 profiles of Ukrainian models.

What is required from the model

The model only performs the tasks of a personal manager - creates and sends content, goes on live calls with subscribers, says Oleksandr. The agency team works with traffic sources and their connections, manages the girl's social networks, correspondence with fans. "The agency I work with was recommended by a friend. The first thing they asked for was a photo of her bare breasts," says model Daria, who earns $2,000 a month. "The team will work on the model's account five days a week for 10 hours a day and night," says Oleksandr.

How is income divided?

The economics of cooperation with agencies is as follows: from 100% of subscribers' payments, OnlyFans takes 20% of the commission, the rest is distributed unevenly - 80% to the agency, 20% to the model.

What is the popularity of this approach?

In the US, OnlyFans agencies appeared immediately after the platform was launched in 2016, in Ukraine — about a year later, says the agency’s co-founder Yevgen. “The monthly turnover is $250,000, we want to grow threefold in a year,” he says. The industry’s heyday coincided with the coronavirus pandemic — from 2020 to 2023, OnlyFans increased its revenue from $304 million to $6.63 billion, the Financial Times writes . In Ukraine, the second boom in agencies occurred with the start of a full-scale war, say the owners interviewed by the publication. “Girls who lost their jobs or moved to another country tried themselves on OnlyFans,” says Yevgen.

What is the situation with OnlyFans in Ukraine today?

As dev.ua previously reported, the investigating judge of the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv granted a group of BEB detectives temporary access to information "about all citizens of Ukraine and other persons residing in the territory of Ukraine who have registered profiles (created accounts) on the OnlyFans platform."

At the same time, according to the Office of Effective Regulation (BRDO), which launched the Pornobarometer project, in the first three quarters of 2024, 1,104 indictments in this category of cases were received by the courts, which is 75% more than in the same period last year.

On December 18, Danylo Hetmantsev, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, stated that so far 350 Onlyfans models in Ukraine have filed tax returns and paid UAH 59.0 million in personal income tax and military duty.

Previously, more than 5,000 Ukrainian models who create paid content on the OnlyFans online platform earned about $123 million in income during 2020–2022.
