Only 9% of Ukrainian IT professionals earned more than $6,000 last year. Who can count on such a salary?

In 2025, the share of IT workers who received a salary of $6,000 or more was about 9%.

Such conclusions can be drawn based on the DOU salary survey, which was conducted in December last year and includes responses from almost 11,000 respondents.

According to this data, about 25% of IT workers who received such a salary worked in Lead+ positions.

Also, about 14% of Senior specialists received a salary of $6,000.

«The highest share of highly paid specialists remains among Tech & General Leadership: 46,7% receive over $6,000. They are followed by DevOps & SRE — 24,6%, Data Science / Data Engineering / ML / AI — 13,9%, and developers — 12,7%,» the analytical material notes.

As the authors of the study state, the title of specialist strongly affects the chances of receiving a salary of over $6,000, the strongest being membership in Lead+ — this adds 60 percentage points (pp) to the average probability among all IT professionals. Being in the group of managers or seniors also gives a strong boost: by 41 and 40 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, work experience is second only to a title in terms of influencing a high salary. The study authors indicate that after 10 years in IT, the chances of reaching a salary mark of over $6,000 increase significantly.

It is worth noting that in 2025, the median salary in the IT sector was recorded at $2,900.

Previously, IT professionals shared their experiences, where, in their opinion, you can find a job in IT for $5,000+ without crypto and gambling.
