In the Kharkiv region, a private air defense group for the first time intercepted a jet drone flying at a speed of over 400 km/h.
As Mikhail Fedorov reported on his Telegram channel, this is the first recorded downing of a jet version of the Shahed by private air defense forces. According to him, such targets are a new level of complexity, as they are faster than conventional strike drones and more difficult to intercept.
Fedorov said that Russia is scaling up the use of jet drones, so Ukraine is simultaneously developing a multi-level air defense system. One of its elements is private groups that are created at enterprises to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure.
Currently, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, such groups are being formed at 19 enterprises. They are not left as separate local initiatives: they are integrated into a single Air Force management system and operate as part of the overall air defense architecture.
The appearance of information about the downing of a jet drone is also important because it is a more complex target with less time to detect and defeat. While conventional "shaheeds" give more time to react, high-speed modifications significantly increase the load on all levels of defense - from detection to direct interception.
In fact, the private air defense project is now entering a new phase: it is already being used not only as an auxiliary tool against massive drone attacks, but as an additional echelon of defense against more complex air targets. The next step, Fedorov called scaling the project to increase the number of interceptions and reduce the time to respond to threats.
