As reported by «Military», the Managing Director of Quantum Systems in Ukraine, Oleksandr Berezhny, spoke about the start of the preparation of the first samples. According to him, the company is already moving into the active phase of work with Twister for Ukrainian customers and is ready to scale up the production of this model to meet the needs of the Defense Forces.
Twister is positioned as a tactical reconnaissance drone for missions that require mobility and rapid deployment. Its weight is 3.8 kg, and the drone itself can be transported in a compact case. One of the key features is vertical take-off and landing, so the device does not need a catapult or other launch systems. This simplifies use in field conditions, especially when the unit does not have the time or space for a separate launch infrastructure.
According to the declared characteristics, Twister can operate at a distance of up to 15 km and stay in the air for up to 90 minutes. The time of bringing to combat readiness is only 2 minutes. In the basic configuration, the drone is equipped with a Nighthawk2 optical module with day and thermal imaging channels, and the module itself, according to the developers, can be replaced simply in the field without serious intervention in the design.
In fact, the Twister fills the niche of a small reconnaissance UAV that can be quickly obtained, lifted into the air, and used without complex training. For the front, this is no less important than range or quality of optics, because in real conditions, launch time is often as critical as technical parameters.
As a backer, Quantum Systems is already known in Ukraine primarily for its Vector reconnaissance drones. The launch of Twister production shows that the company is trying to strengthen its presence in another segment — compact tactical drones that can operate closer to the front line and adapt more quickly to the needs of a specific unit.
