The project is designed for those who want to change their profession, restart their career, or find a job that meets not only their real «self» but also the needs of the market.
Rework is the answer to the request of many Ukrainians who have difficulty getting a job in their specialty, experience professional burnout, or cannot find themselves due to forced migration.
According to the Center for Economic Strategy (CES), there are about 1.5 million unemployed people in Ukraine. Most of them are unemployed due to structural unemployment, which occurs due to a mismatch between the skills available to workers and those needed in the labor market. In other words, there are hundreds of thousands of vacant jobs in Ukraine, but there are no necessary specialists with the appropriate skills to fill them. A particularly vulnerable group is people aged 30–45, who are forced to change their field due to war or technological changes in the labor market. At the same time, only a small part of them undergo real retraining — and it is this gap between market needs and the need for individual changes that Rework seeks to fill.
Rework offers a career strategy building program that brings together experienced experts in their fields who can share their experiences and make career changes easier. The result of the program for participants is a holistic model of change based on self-knowledge, rethinking their skills and building a long-term career plan.
The idea behind Rework is by Vyacheslav Fokin, founder of the tech company JobAtlas. He has changed 25 different professions in his life, so no one else knows the challenges of finding your calling.
«I didn’t change jobs because I wanted more money. I changed jobs because I changed myself,» Vyacheslav tells dev.ua. «Most people are afraid to do this because they think they have to start from scratch every time. I know that’s not true: the accumulated experience should not be thrown away. It should become the basis for future professional transformation. That’s why we launched a project that aims to show others that changing your career is normal.»
The first Rework module is launching in August, with speakers including a career consultant, coach, psychologist, HR director, creative industry representatives, entrepreneurs, and others. Each of them will share insights from their fields on what professions are currently relevant and how to get into them. The format of the first program is an online bootcamp that combines lectures with practical tasks and mentoring support, and helps each participant create their own career development roadmap. Access to the program is free for veterans and their family members.
Rework is a continuation of the development of JobAtlas activities, which have already received recognition at the European level — in particular, a grant from the EU in the field of innovative entrepreneurship. In addition, JobAtlas has begun cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, offering its technology for the State Employment Service. After the launch of the platform for youth " Profitrol «, Rework is a logical continuation, this time focused on a mature audience, for whom career planning is no less relevant.
