A report appeared in the Russian media that cryptocurrency mining has been banned in the DPR, LPR, and the occupied territories of Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.
The ban should come into effect from January 1, 2025, until March 15, 2031. In addition to the DPR, LPR, and the occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, the ban will extend to Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, and Chechnya.
In certain territories of the Irkutsk region, Buryatia, and Transbaikal region, the ban will be introduced temporarily, only during peaks in energy consumption: from January 1 to March 15, and then annually from November 15 to March 15.
In addition, they say that other regions may be added to the list.
Russian media write that this is necessary to maintain a balance of energy consumption, taking into account the demands of industry.
