According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the enemy used a «double strike» scheme: first, two missiles hit the territory of the logistics complex, and then four more strike drones attacked the facility. The prosecutor’s office specifies that a pre-trial investigation has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war, which caused the death of people).
The impact caused a large-scale fire: the released footage shows the destroyed terminal structures and trucks destroyed by fire. Rescuers conducted search operations and unblocked people who were trapped under the rubble. In addition to the terminal itself, law enforcement officers documented damage to two gas stations. Specialized services are working on the scene, and they promise to update the information.
According to the press service of Nova Poshta, two employees of the sorting center and two drivers of the forwarding partner were killed. Four other employees were also injured in the attack: three employees of the sorting center and one driver of the carrier partner. The company said that it would contact all customers whose parcels were destroyed and promised to compensate for their value.
The prosecutor’s office did not say how many shipments could have been lost or what the losses are for the company and customers. At the same time, postal terminals are key infrastructure for digital commerce and small businesses: they sort and send orders to regions.
Nova Poshta has been repeatedly targeted by Russian forces in both the Kharkiv region and other regions. Earlier, dev.ua wrote about how, on the night of December 31, during a massive attack on the Odessa region, fragments of an enemy drone fell into the territory of the Nova Poshta sorting terminal’s car yard, destroying 110 parcels worth UAH 2.3 million.
