"If you were a woman, there would be more webcam offers." A junior developer complained that he was getting irrelevant job offers. Aitivites claim that this phenomenon is quite frequent

Junior Frontend Developer Rostyslav Kanov complained that the offers he received did not correspond to his direction and qualifications at all.

«Friends, I have a question for those who work in the IT field… Recently, as a Frontend developer, I have been receiving many offers for the position of sales manager, project manager, consultant… And this is not a few times, but constantly! They just fill up my mailbox, and I don’t know whether to laugh or cry,» Rostyslav said .

He wonders: «Is this normal? Did I miss something? I’m a programmer, not a sales or project manager.»

He also asked his fellow developers how they get out of this situation: «Is there some magic trick so that recruiters stop offering me things that aren’t what I’m looking for? I don’t know whether to laugh or just say: „Take me somewhere!“ — but only if it’s a development in programming! I want to grow in my specialty, not change it.»

Rostislav gave an example of one such proposal.

The guy added that he now has a job and is considering new opportunities. «I have a great job that brings me satisfaction and helps me develop as a developer, but I am open to new offers and looking for an opportunity to choose the best one for my further development in programming,» he said.

In the comments to Rostislav’s post, colleagues from Aitiv say that such a phenomenon of spamming candidates with job vacancies is quite popular nowadays.

«Oh, and if you were a woman, there would also be suggestions from the web cam,» said React Native Developer Yevgenia Shcherbina .

Andrii Zaluzhny, Junior FrontEnd Developer, said that he had similar problems when he used job search platforms like work.ua. «After removing the questionnaire from there, after some time, such offers disappeared,» he said.

Maksym Maslov, Web Developer, said that he had a similar experience. «Neither HRs nor recruiters will give you an answer here, because recruiting in such companies is completely different. I think that their algorithm is as follows: If a person is looking for a job for a long time, then offer him yours. In addition, I am sure that the work as a „manager“ that they offer is most likely illegal, something like a call center. Because try to take courses on PM and apply for real jobs. And here they offer you directly themselves,» Maksym argues.
