According to «Telegraph», this was stated in a flash interview by Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Zoryana Stetsyuk. She reported that the necessary regulatory framework for launching the service has already been adopted: the relevant resolution was approved by the government. The team is currently completing the technical implementation of the service, after which beta testing should begin.
This is not a one-size-fits-all service. According to Stetsyuk, only couples who do not have minor children together will be able to use digital divorce. This condition will be the basic limitation at the first stage of the launch.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs explains that the service was not launched earlier because they initially focused on digital marriage. They recalled that Ukraine was the first to digitalize the full cycle of marriage — from submitting an application to an online ceremony via video call and signing documents with an electronic signature. According to the official, more than 41,000 couples have already married through «Diya», and digital offices of the DRACS operate in Lviv, Kyiv and Dnipro.
The launch of e-divorce seems like a logical continuation of this line of services. But unlike marriage, here the state is moving more cautiously and launching the function with clear restrictions. This means that a full-fledged mass service for all categories of spouses is unlikely to appear immediately.
Former head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs , Mykhailo Fedorov, publicly spoke about the intention to launch divorce through «Diya» back in the summer, but now the Ministry of Digital Affairs has named a more specific benchmark for the first time — the end of spring. At this stage, the service looks like another step towards expanding digital services in the field of DRACS after online marriage, which has already become one of the most noticeable functions of «Diya».
Previously, dev.ua also wrote about how Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Valeria Koval said that the Ministry of Digital Affairs team is actively working on implementing a divorce service in «Diya» to eliminate the need to personally visit the DRACS.
