According to VYRIY, the new mode was created at the request of the military. The «cruise control» works at the level of a flight controller and in normal mode independently maintains a set speed and altitude. If the signal from the operator disappears, the drone does not freeze or fall, but continues to move along a stable trajectory until control is restored.
After communication is restored, the pilot can adjust the course, altitude and complete the mission in manual mode. This approach allows you to pass through areas where your own or enemy electronic warfare equipment is operating, without interrupting the mission due to short-term failures of the control channel. At the same time, engineers emphasize that the integration of the mode does not increase the cost of the drone itself.
VYRIY notes that the «cruise control» is implemented as a separate flight mode, similar to the settings already familiar to operators, and is activated with one click. Therefore, the military does not need additional training or complex instructions — the control logic remains familiar, only the drone’s behavior in critical situations changes.
The update with support for «cruise control» will be included in the basic configuration on all VYRIY aircraft from December 1, 2025. The solution also optimizes power consumption in flight, which allows you to increase the duration of the mission and reduce the risk of an uncontrolled fall of the device in the event of prolonged communication interference. According to engineers, the overall efficiency of drones due to this function increases by approximately 20%.
VYRIY claims to be the first company in Ukraine to implement such a «cruise» mode at the system level, rather than as a separate experimental software. Against the backdrop of the constant strengthening of Russian electronic warfare (EW) capabilities and the growing role of FPV and strike UAVs on the front, the transition to more autonomous flight modes is becoming one of the key areas of development for the Ukrainian drone industry.
