An IT specialist shared his own method of finding a job using AI: it will help you create a thoughtful application and not lose relevant experience for each individual vacancy.
Senior Product Designer Denys Osadchy shared his own approach to finding a job using artificial intelligence, which consists of several steps: checking the suitability of the vacancy based on its knowledge base, writing a cover letter in his own style for a specific vacancy using a «text template», and checking the relevance of the information.

Denys Osadchy usually uses AI in work processes and pet projects. But while looking for a job, he thought, why not approach this process as a task where AI can prove itself as a useful tool.
The first stage is checking the vacancy through the knowledge base
As Denys Osadchy told on LinkedIn, he first checks the relevance of the vacancy using his personal knowledge base.
To do this, the IT guy created a custom Space in Perplexity, where he uploaded the following data:
experience;
projects;
skills;
What he wants to get from work, and vice versa — what he doesn’t want.
«When I find a vacancy, I post a link and ask them to analyze what this company is really looking for and how my background covers it. You can immediately see where the match is strong and where it’s not worth wasting time,» the IT expert explained the task of checking in the knowledge base.
The second stage is creating a cover letter using a «text template»
The next step is to generate a cover letter. To do this, Denis created a custom style guide, which he called a «textual mold of his style.»
This manual contains information:
how Denis formulates thoughts;
what is the rhythm of the sentences;
who never writes;
what words does he not use.
«Thanks to this, AI writes in my tone, with my experience, for a specific vacancy,» Denis added.
The third stage is checking the consistency of the data in the cover letter.
And finally, the IT professional rereads the final version of the cover letter to check «whether each statement corresponds to what I really know and have done. If the AI invented something that didn’t exist, I delete it. No exceptions.»
Advantages of this AI approach
Denis believes that thanks to this approach , each application turns out to be well-considered.
«Job search is a rather resource-intensive process that requires both concentration and time. Especially when I have a huge background in different domains, many projects. The AI approach allowed me to structure all this data. I can miss something, forget something when I write a cover letter. And so I am completely sure that my skills and knowledge will find a complete match with the skills and knowledge of the candidate described in the vacancy. And vice versa, AI will highlight that I do not have enough knowledge in this area and the vacancy does not meet my requirements. It is fast and convenient,» Denis said in a comment for dev.ua.
In addition, the IT expert talks about another benefit of this technique — awareness of what the next job should look like, what the requirements, expectations, etc. are.
«It’s not just saying to AI — find me a job as a designer, it’s a complete formation of my profile as a professional, with soft and hard skills, a description of what I did at all jobs. It helped to structure my achievements, to clearly see my path of growth as a professional,» the IT specialist explained.
And finally, it’s time saving and the quality of applications.
During the week of job searching, Denys sent about 20 applications and received three responses to them.
«But the gain is not only in speed, but also in quality. For me personally, such an AI-driven approach is very convenient and useful, I think it is already our reality, and there is no need to set blockers for myself so as not to use AI to find a job. Of course, someone can condemn me for being a cheater and simply generating text and sending it to recruiters, thereby deceiving them. You can deceive without using AI. In my case, I simply took off part of the routine, I have a tool that helps me work with information and form answers only based on my own skills, without embellishment. Because I always reread the AI answers and if something doesn’t match, I refine the instructions so as not to repeat this mistake,» the IT specialist concluded.
