According to the Financial Times, the company has already confidentially filed for an IPO and expects to raise approximately $75 billion. With these parameters, this offering could become the largest in the history of the stock market. Less than 5% of the shares are planned to be floated on the market, and the offering could take place as early as June.
Importantly, the preparations coincided with changes to Nasdaq rules. The exchange removed the requirement for a minimum percentage of free float to be included in the Nasdaq 100 and shortened the waiting period for new companies to 15 days after the start of trading. This opens up more opportunities for large technology companies that want to go public without having to sell a significant portion of their business right away.
The company has been preparing for this step for several months. SpaceX has been discussing an IPO since 2025, and the IPO itself is seen as a way to support further scaling. According to estimates, the company’s revenue could grow from about $15 billion in 2025 to $22–24 billion in 2026.
If the deal goes through on the terms announced, it could not only be a record-breaking deal, but also a game-changer for the large tech IPO market. Such a high valuation would mean investors are willing to pay big bucks not just for the space business but also for a long-term bet on satellite internet, launches and defense contracts. It would also raise the bar for other large private companies preparing to go public.
SpaceX’s current valuation of $1.75 trillion, if confirmed, would put the company among the world’s most valuable technology giants. And the attempt to raise $75 billion in one go would make the offering unprecedented even for the American market, where record deals have typically been much smaller.
