He said this during a public interview on November 22 at the Forbes Tech 2024 conference. Lyubinets noted that he does not consider 2025 to be a decisive year for AI.
«Another thing is important: artificial intelligence is already changing the world, and it is happening radically. There is also controversy within SoftServe: Will these changes bring more opportunities or create challenges? I’m convinced that now it’s more about opportunities», — he said.
According to SoftServe’s co-founder, after launching ChatGPT, «there was an explosion.» Predictions that programmers will become redundant and be replaced by AI have not come true. But now the investments are aimed at the specialized application of AI, because «the general approach has proven itself and everyone is waiting for real results.»
«Artificial intelligence opens new markets. My first job in the 90s was writing machine code programs without basic operations like addition or subtraction. Since then, the productivity of programmers has increased many times, and the possibilities of programming have expanded», — Lyubinets said.
He recalled a case five years ago when SoftServe was working with a «big bank» where all the core applications were on mainframes and COBOL. When asked why they don’t modernize the software, the Ukrainians IT-specialists received an answer that it would cost $5 billion.
However, with the advent of AI, converting old code to new has become much easier, says the SoftServe co-founder. «We are already implementing such projects for clients, where the main work is automated by AI, reducing costs to hundreds of millions. The market for digital doubles, assistants, augmented reality and other innovations that previously seemed like fiction is growing»? — he added.
Yaroslav Lyubinets believes that the next big trend could be a combination of artificial intelligence and robotics. He also predicted a «great future» for biotechnology and genetic engineering. In his opinion, quantum computing can make a breakthrough in IT.
Earlier, SoftServe said that its generative artificial intelligence laboratory GenAI Lab expanded its staff from 15 to 100 specialists, and the following partners appeared: the manufacturer of AI chips Nvidia, the seller of cloud storage Amazon Web Services, and the manufacturer of computers and servers Dell.
