The (co-)founder of Wikipedia walked out of an interview after the first question. He was furious that the host was trying to figure out how to properly pronounce him.
Wikipedia (co-)founder Jimmy Wales became the hero of news and discussions on social media: during an interview, he left the studio after the first question, when the journalist tried to figure out whether it was more correct to call him the founder or co-founder of the resource.
Wikipedia (co-)founder Jimmy Wales became the hero of news and discussions on social media: during an interview, he left the studio after the first question, when the journalist tried to figure out whether it was more correct to call him the founder or co-founder of the resource.
Such an incident occurred on the air of the Jung & Naiv podcast, which this time lasted only 45 seconds.
At the very beginning, the host of the German podcast, Thilo Jung, tried to clarify with Wales several times how to correctly determine his status, because Wikipedia itself operates in the language of facts.
At the same time, Wales called himself the founder several times, but emphasized that it was not important and the host could call him whatever he wanted. Later, he said that the journalist was asking stupid questions and that he had had enough of him, after which he left.
By the way, the article about the founding of the resource in the Ukrainian version begins with the fact that «the history of Wikipedia formally began with the launch of Wikipedia on January 15, 2001 by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger.»
The same Wikipedia notes that on January 15, 2001, Sanger became the only paid editor of the resource in history and worked in this position until his resignation on March 1, 2002. After that, he often criticized Wikipedia in his further activities.
«My personal aspiration is to oust the Russian-language Wikipedia from the Ukrainian-language market.» Interview with the chief ambassador of the Ukrainian Wikipedia
