However, Sundar Pichai said at the New York Times DealBook Summit that the biggest transformation related to AI is yet to come for Google, according to the Hindustan Times. According to him, these changes will not be delayed — they will take place in the first months of 2025 and will be the biggest in the entire history of the search engine development. And users will be able to experience how Google search can provide much more advanced answers than today’s version.
«I think we will be able to solve more difficult problems than ever before,» he declared.
The first implementations were the updated Lens tool, which allows for video-based searches. Google also said that in the future it is also worth waiting for an updated version of the Gemini AI model, which aims to challenge Microsoft, OpenAI and new competitors in the AI search market, such as Perplexity.
Comparing the AI models of Google and Microsoft, Sundar Pichai emphasized the innovativeness of the technologies used by the former. Underscoring this, Pichai noted that Microsoft «uses other people’s models», in particular, in partnership with OpenAI. In addition, he offered a «side-by-side comparison» of Google’s artificial intelligence models and those used by Microsoft.
