Players take on the role of the Strange Shadow, a disembodied spirit called upon to help a group of amateur exorcists deal with a demonic infestation in a small American town. He cannot interact with the physical world directly, but he does have a number of useful abilities, including mind-bending, which allows him to whisper advice, and time-manipulation to avert negative consequences.
According to the developers, they were inspired by projects such as Disco Elysium and Slay the Princess, where the player influences the actions of characters through conversations, manipulation, intrusive thoughts, and, from time to time, direct influence in the format of a mini-game.
Additionally, The Demons Told Me to Make This Game is a time-loop puzzle game that relies on exploring timelines and constructing the correct chain of events in a series of time segments. The game takes place in a small, remote town in the American Midwest.
A new story trailer introduces players to the quirky inhabitants of the gloomy town of Red Hides, where the game takes place — mischievous heroes Gum and Tape, the mysterious Beekeeper, the suspiciously friendly Mrs. Doomsday, and Father Benjamin (and his gun).
Currently, the project does not have an exact release date, only the release window is 2025. However, TDTMTMTG already has a page on Steam, where you can add it to your wishlist. The game will have Ukrainian localization.
