Trump wants to be "friends" with tech companies. Meta and Amazon, one after the other, will donate $1 million to his inauguration

CNN reports that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will personally visit Trump in the coming days as he and other tech founders seek to build closer ties with the incoming president.

Moreover, Amazon, in addition to donating $1 million in cash to the inauguration, plans to broadcast the event on Amazon Video, which could also be valued at a similar amount.

Bezos and Trump previously communicated in the summer after the assassination attempt on the latter.

The publication writes that Trump is determined to establish ties with technology giants and is now praising the companies that he once blamed for his defeat in the 2020 election.

As a reminder, on Wednesday, Mark Zuckerberg's Meta confirmed that it had donated $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund. Prior to that, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg met privately with Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

This is a major change in the relationship between Zuckerberg and Trump, as Meta previously banned Trump from its platforms following the riots on January 6, 2021.
