Ukraine is participating in the international hackathon Teens in AI for the second time, which is held in 97 countries around the world. In 2024, the team from the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute's Lyceum won with the ConnectAbility project, which then won the final.
This year, at the national stage, 10 teams of schoolchildren created and tested AI development projects that solve problems in education, healthcare, and gender equality over two days, the Ministry of Digital Affairs reports . In total, schoolchildren submitted more than 250 applications to participate in the techaton.
"We have very cool, motivated teenagers who, at the age of 12–18, already know how to code, pitch projects in English, and creatively approach the use of technologies," noted the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Mykhailo Fedorov.
The national selection was won by a team from Kropyvnytskyi, HARBOUR SEALS. They created a tool called Equilla, which analyzes texts on social networks and detects disinformation, gender stereotypes, and bullying. It generates alternative, gender-neutral comments and helps combat toxicity in the media.
The second place went to the EmoPuzzle project. It is an interactive AI-powered learning platform that helps children with autism spectrum disorders understand emotions, express feelings, and navigate everyday life situations.
In third place is Pure Mind, a platform for creating notes and tests based on videos from the All-Ukrainian School Online, which offers voice support, motivational elements, and a personalized schedule based on biorhythms.
Students of the Zaporizhzhia School of Robotics developed a sapper robot for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and rescuers, which has already been sent to the Kherson region
Тест dev.ua
