Ukrainian MedTech company CheckEye has been included in the list of the main winners of the prestigious Healthy Longevity Global Competition from the US National Academy of Medicine (NAM). The project became one of the leaders in the artificial intelligence category and received a grant of $175,000.
What will the money be used for?
The startup will use the $175,000 raised to scale the solution and develop early-stage diagnostics. The global goal of the innovation is to radically reduce healthcare system costs and extend people's active lives by preventing diseases.
Competition and recognition
The selection process was extremely rigorous: the program covered over 50 countries and territories, with over 9,000 applications from innovators from all over the world during the project. CheckEye became the first Ukrainian company in history to win an award of this level.
The official award ceremony took place on October 20, 2026 in Washington at the NAM Global Innovator Summit, where the team was represented by co-founder Viktoriya Chuchina. On the eve of the summit, Ukrainians also received access to a closed scientific program for networking with leading global investors and scientists.
"It is a great honor for us to present and promote Ukrainian innovations in the world. This recognition at the global level is confirmation that our technology has the potential to change the paradigm of treating chronic diseases - from combating the consequences to early prevention," commented Kyrylo Honcharuk, CEO & Founder of CheckEye.
What is developing?
The project is called AI-Powered Retinal Screening for Early Detection of Chronic Diseases. It is an artificial intelligence-based platform that scans the retina of the eye — the only place in the body where you can non-invasively monitor the state of the vascular and nervous systems. Algorithms turn a regular examination into an in-depth screening, allowing you to find biomarkers of chronic diseases even before the first symptoms appear.
About the competition
The Healthy Longevity Global Competition is an initiative launched by the US National Academy of Medicine in 2019. Unlike conservative grants, the competition seeks and funds breakthrough ideas in the "high-risk, high-reward" format for combating aging and chronic diseases that have the potential to revolutionize medicine.
