Ukrainian Kara Dag Technologies showed Obriy detectors that intercept video from drones and work together with electronic warfare

Kara Dag Technologies has introduced new Obriy portable drone detectors that not only detect UAVs, but can also intercept video signals and integrate with electronic warfare systems.

As Kara Dag Technologies reports in its press release, the Obriy 1,3 °C and Obriy 1,4 °C models are designed for early detection of drones in the field and cover the frequency range of 1-6 GHz (1050-2600; 2720-4000; 4000-6040 MHz). This allows you to capture most common threats, including FPV drones, DJI and Autel quadcopters, as well as some aircraft-type drones.

The key function of the devices is to capture analog video in real time and display it on the screen. In fact, the operator can see the image from the drone’s camera immediately after it is detected. In addition, the detectors are able to capture digital and encrypted signals, which expands the range of targets that can be detected.

Both models have the same technical platform, but differ in form factor. Obriy 1,3 °C uses an external display and is more suitable for deployment on positions or equipment, while Obriy 1,4 °C has a built-in screen and is focused on mobile applications. The scanning speed is 2-6 seconds, which allows you to quickly respond to the appearance of a drone.

Among the technical features are also stated:

  • metal shielded housing that reduces interference and increases sensitivity to weak signals;
  • protection against the effects of electronic warfare and static electricity;
  • self-diagnostic system;
  • the ability to connect an external antenna, in particular by taking it to a vehicle to increase the detection range;
  • application with a spectrum analyzer for signal analysis.

Particular emphasis is placed on integration into other systems. Detectors can transmit data about detected signals to electronic warfare systems, which allows for a faster transition from detection to drone suppression. Compatibility with UAVs, NRCs, and BNAs is also claimed, allowing Obriy to be used as part of a unified response system.

The devices are already being used in real-world conditions, where not only detection accuracy is tested, but also stability under interference and electronic warfare. In such scenarios, scanning speed, the ability to work with different types of signals, and the ability to immediately transmit data for further threat neutralization are critical.
