The Kyiv City Commercial Court has opened proceedings in the case of Dnipronet LLC’s claim against Telegram, accepting the Ukrainian company’s statement of claim for consideration.

The defendants in the case are Telegram FZ-LLC (Dubai) and Telegram Messenger Inc (British Virgin Islands), and the lawsuit demands compensation of over UAH 579,000 for violation of copyright and related rights.
In addition, the lawsuit demands that Telegram stop providing public access to a number of Telegram channels by deactivating them or “applying another technical measure that makes it impossible to open the channel page, view its message history, and media files.”
In particular, it is said that 150 publications on social media channels illegally used videos of the Dnipronet company. These publications are required to be deleted.
Since both defendants are non-residents, the court determined that the costs of translating documents and paying for their delivery at the stage of the trial should be borne by the interested party. Among other things, the court ordered the plaintiff to provide the court with a notarized translation into English of the statement of claim with annexes.
At the same time, the commercial court recognized the plaintiff’s materials as sufficient to accept the statement of claim for consideration and initiate proceedings in the case.
A preliminary hearing in this case is scheduled for January 27, 2027.
As dev.ua reported, Ukrainian developer Anton Demchenko, who previously created an interactive map of Ukrainian YouTube, has launched a similar project for Telegram. The new map collects about 30,000 Ukrainian Telegram channels, which can be explored by topic, language, audience size, and geography.
