As reported by «Military», the company itself announced its participation in the project. SKYRIPER says that this decision should strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in countering enemy drones. Octopus-100 was developed by the technical team of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine as a specialized interceptor drone for destroying air targets and protecting critical infrastructure.
For SKYRIPER, this is a logical expansion of its role in military production. The company is known for bomber drones, FPV platforms, repeater drones, as well as its own solutions for the component part of unmanned aerial vehicles. In particular, this is a universal guidance system for Triglav drones. It is precisely this experience in components, electronics, and UAV assembly that may be important for scaling up the Octopus-100, which has not yet been put into full-scale production.
The article also explains why this interceptor has been talked about for a long time, but without mass use. One of the key reasons was the dependence on several critical components that were in short supply. Because of this, production could not be quickly increased. The developers, together with the manufacturer, worked out the replacement of such parts, and this opened the way to serial production.
TAF Industries has already announced preparations for mass production of the Octopus-100. Now SKYRIPER has also joined the process, which increases the chances of faster scaling up production of interceptors for the military.
The Octopus-100 was created precisely as a response to the need for a separate class of drones to intercept enemy UAVs. For such solutions, not only characteristics are critically important, but also the availability of components, stable assembly, and the ability to quickly increase production at the request of the front.
