Ukrainian engineer patented AI technology that allows leaving a digital trace after death
Rodion Sorokin’s invention, called AI Time Capsule, can store a person’s voice, communication style, and emotions, creating a digital avatar of them for future generations.
Rodion Sorokin’s invention, called AI Time Capsule, can store a person’s voice, communication style, and emotions, creating a digital avatar of them for future generations.
According to ShowTam, the technology combines a wearable device and a software platform. The gadget collects information about speech, intonation, and message texts, and artificial intelligence algorithms form a «personality vector.» This allows the author to interact with his «digital copy» after his death — to hear answers in a characteristic style and voice.
The idea came during the war. According to Sorokin, he wanted to create a way for children to continue to hear their parents' voices or consult with them, even if they are no longer around. The data is processed locally on the device, which, according to the developer, guarantees privacy.
Who is behind the development?
Rodion Sorokin was born in Dnipro, graduated from Oles Honchar University with two majors: economics and software engineering. He has nine years of experience in IT, including as a co-founder of GetApp-Group. He currently works as a senior engineer at Chewy (a large American e-commerce giant). Despite working in the USA, the engineer actively supports Ukraine financially and as a volunteer.
The trend towards «digital immortality»
Developments in the field of preserving identity using AI are gaining popularity in different countries. In the USA, there are already services for recording «digital diaries», in Japan they are creating virtual «relatives», and in China they are testing chats with artificial copies of the deceased. Ukrainian AI Time Capsule™ is distinguished by the fact that it offers local data processing, which can become a competitive advantage in the global market.
We previously wrote about how researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California, Irvine found that artificial intelligence can imperceptibly alter human memories, even if people know they are seeing generated content.
Тест dev.ua
