Ukrainian drone software developer OSIRIS AI received funding from a foreign investor for DroneOS

Ukrainian startup OSIRIS AI has received money from a foreign investor to develop DroneOS: an operating system that makes drones more autonomous; the amount and investor are not disclosed.
According to Militarny, the funds will be used to improve autonomous control, secure communications, and services for managing drone fleets, as well as to expand the supported hardware.
DroneOS is called the «brain» of a UAV by OSIRIS AI. The platform is installed on various types of drones and allows them to act independently, namely: to route the flight, analyze data from onboard sensors, and make decisions without constant operator commands. The system works on common computing modules: from simpler controllers to productive platforms like NVIDIA Jetson. That means the manufacturer does not need to remake the entire device to add new functions.
A special emphasis on security and updates. Communication is encrypted, and new features are loaded as separate modules from its own application catalog, without interfering with the drone’s «base». This is convenient for units that control dozens of devices: updates arrive remotely, and a failure on one board does not «break» the entire system. Compatibility with open PX4 and MAVLink standards simplifies integration with components from different manufacturers and ground stations.
The company says that they are simultaneously building an ecosystem around DroneOS: AI module developers, electronics manufacturers, and drone operators get a consistent environment where algorithms quickly «move» between aircraft models, and the fleet is managed as a single service. This is important for both strike/reconnaissance UAVs and counter-drone systems (C-UAV), where fast updates and stable communication in difficult conditions are required.
Full-scale war has dramatically increased the demand for unified software for drones: units need autonomy, channel protection, compatibility of parts, and remote updates without downtime. Unlike single «closed» solutions for a specific model, universal platforms like DroneOS reduce dependence on a single supplier, accelerate the deployment of new functions, and provide economies of scale. This is why foreign investors are more willing to finance flexible software cores for entire fleets rather than hardware.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how Ukrainian developers from the Sky Hunter company presented an automatic system that will help shoot down enemy drones with anti-aircraft FPV drones with virtually no human intervention.
