The first electronic voting in the history of Ukraine for an independent anti-corruption council took place in the «Diya» application. Its members will oversee the reform of the gambling market and represent the public at the PlayCity agency.
According to the Ministry of Digital Affairs' Telegram channel, 57,176 Ukrainians took part in an open vote and elected 9 members of the Anti-Corruption Expert Group at PlayCity. They will not have the status of employees of the state agency, but will have the right to monitor the transparency of its decisions and influence regulatory changes in the gambling sector.
The group was formed based on submissions from public organizations that have been working in the field of combating corruption, combating gambling addiction, or illegal gambling for at least two years. Current civil servants, citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus, individuals with a criminal record, as well as those who have connections to the gambling business or have worked at PlayCity or KRAIL in the past two years were not allowed to participate.

The next step for the newly elected members will be to determine the head of the expert group, after which they will be able to fully participate in the work. The key tasks of the advisory body include participating in inspections of gambling organizers, preparing recommendations for changes in the regulatory framework, as well as independent monitoring of decisions that affect the legal gambling market.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs notes that this case was the first in the history of Ukraine when citizens were involved in the formation of a supervisory structure at a state institution through electronic voting in the Action. In the future, they plan to use similar mechanisms for other strategic areas.
