Ukrspecsystems has updated its drone camera software to provide operators with clearer video in fog, bright sunlight, and low light conditions.
This is reported by «Military». The company reported that the firmware updates were received by USG-231, USG-231T and USG-232. The changes are implemented only at the software level, work in real time and are enabled through the standard camera control interface, so they do not require any re-equipment or additional modules.
The essence of the update is that instead of one automatic video processing profile, the camera offers several modes for typical flight scenarios. For normal lighting, there is a mode that enhances contrast so that details in the image are more noticeable. For situations when the frame is «cut» by harsh sunlight and deep shadows, there is a mode that tightens information in darkened areas. For evening and low light, the camera increases the shutter speed and ISO. A separate mode is designed for fog to increase visibility and readability of the image.
The material also provides the characteristics of the two systems that are mentioned in the most detail. The USG-231 is described as a gyro-stabilized optoelectronic system with a Full HD daytime camera for fixed-wing platforms. It has a 30x optical zoom and 3x digital zoom, and the manufacturer notes that this allows you to observe objects from a distance of over 1000 meters. The USG-232 is called a multi-sensor gyro-stabilized system: it combines a daytime Full HD camera with a 30x optical zoom, a thermal imaging module and a laser rangefinder with an accuracy of up to 1 meter. It is also emphasized that the suspension is designed not only for air platforms, but also for land and sea applications.
Ukrspecsystems makes Shark reconnaissance drones, which use cameras from the same manufacturer. For such platforms, a stable video stream is key, so the company invests in software that helps the operator better distinguish objects in difficult weather and poor lighting without changing the hardware.
