«Our team has a week of paid winter and summer vacation. This practice has appeared since the day the company was founded, almost six years ago,» the Ukrainian EdTech company Headway told DOU.
It noted that on December 1 and August 1, each specialist is credited with 5 compensatory days, and the last week of these months is set aside for vacation. The company believes this «contributes to a calm and quality rest.»
The Ukrainian EdTech company Preply has been holding Recharge Week at the end of the year for the past two years. In 2024, it falls on December 23-29. «Recharge Week is paid for by the company. At Preply, we believe that a reboot is important to prepare for next year and set ourselves up for a productive year,» noted Preply.
Zagrava game studio this year decided to have a reduced working day on December 24, and from December 25 to January 1, the entire team will rest. «We always try to take care of the balance between work and rest, even despite the challenges of recent years,» the company says.
The Quarks IT company announced that in 2025 they changed their approach to the organization of the holiday weekend. Now 11 paid weekends are distributed so that the entire company rests from December 28, 2024 to January 3, 2025. Also, employees can use 6 additional days at their own discretion during the year.
«This approach allows the entire team to rest, recharge, spend time with family, and re-energize during the winter holidays and throughout the year,» says Quarks.
In the Ukrainian office of the Nvidia company, they said that they have been arranging long weekends (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday) for several years. These days are paid and are in addition to annual leave and public holiday weekends. This year, the additional weekend falls on December 26 and 27, so the team will rest from December 25 to 29.
«Since the entire company rests at the same time, it promotes complete disconnection from work, helps better reboot, and increases productivity,» noted the Ukrainian office of the chip maker.
We will remind that earlier the founder of Infosys Narayama Murthy said that a 70-hour work week is what is needed in India. He believes that the introduction of the weekend was a mistake.
