«Russian is mandatory»
Yar Bozhyk, a strategic HR partner for IT and Tech, shared a vacancy in which he noticed an atypical requirement for today’s times.
«A requirement from a real vacancy on Djinni. Who will tell me, in 2026, in the 5th year of the war, it will be OK again, as it was before it? I am not against people who communicate in Russian. Many of them really do not know Ukrainian, but they are much more patriots than many who chirp in the nightingale. But such a requirement from a company, on a Ukrainian resource… is somehow too much for me,» he wrote .
«I ignore requests in Ukrainian»
HR Advisor Viktoriya Zakharova published a screenshot of a candidate’s resume on LinkedIn, where one of the job seeker’s requirements shocked the specialist.
«I’m currently actively looking for a .Net developer who doesn’t mind working with Java, because the project has a set of services and needs to use two languages. Or is it a Java developer and is ready to use C#. And here’s what I see. I almost fell off my chair, what do you think? Because I’m speechless…», she wrote .
In his resume, the candidate, who listed Odessa as his location, noted that he ignores requests in Ukrainian.
June-timlids
Software Engineering Manager Volodymyr Shaitan noticed a strange vacancy and reported it on LinkedIn. «The same legendary Jun team leads are wanted,» he wrote, adding screenshots.
Oleksiy Krychevsky, Lead Platform Engineer, comments: «A June frontend on a node should lead two Python backends… everything is great here.»
«The role title exists separately from the actual work»
Olena K., Frontend Developer, talked about a vacancy, the description of which, in the developer’s opinion, does not match the title.
«Another masterpiece of the job market — hello HR, who complain about the inadequacy of candidates. HR itself initiated the contact — which is a rarity these days. So I opened the description carefully. And that’s where it started. Looking for a Senior React Engineer — «PART TIME» who has: — scale complex processes — split the API into separate services — emulate pub/sub and Cloud Run locally — do SEO — be a backend architect — DevOps engineer — system designer — and also have sales skills, because «Opportunity to represent the company on the international market and shape client relationships from day one,» she wrote.
And here a key question arises, writes Olena: «Why is React / Frontend Engineer here? There is no frontend in responsibilities. There is almost nothing about React in must-haves. There is silence about frontend as an area of responsibility. The role title exists separately from the actual work. It looks like a ballerina is expected to plant tomatoes in the garden. Maybe she will cope. But that doesn’t make her an agronomist. I pointed out that red flag directly. The reaction was immediate: «The employer noted that you’re not the right fit for the position at this time.»
According to Olena, the job description has not changed, and the platform has not responded to the complaint.
Development for free
Olena Surilova, Junior Full-Stack Developer, focused her attention on vacancies for juniors, where the employer offers to work for free.
«Today I want to discuss such a vacancy with you. I will not show the company and contacts, only the body of the vacancy. What do you think, is the first job okay or crap? For me, it’s crap. But not because the vacancy is unpaid, but because further cooperation is stipulated — without guarantees, without deadlines, without specifics. If the requirement to bring the product to market is a requirement I can understand, then for the application to gain 10,000 users — no. After all, the success of the application is not only the responsibility of the developer, but also of a whole bunch of people,» she noted.

«Impressive? I understand)» Yes. Impressive to the very depths of the soul,» Head of Sales Pavlo Stepanenko ironically described the job offer and added screenshots.
A forger for AI ideas
Startup.biz.ua, an IT project that combines EdTech and HR, has opened a vacancy for a position they called a «forger.» This is a kind of «toxic person» who will mercilessly criticize everything. On LinkedIn, this role has aroused so much interest that all interview slots are currently occupied, and the post has already received over 200 comments.
The open vacancy for a «forger» — this is the scientific name for this position — was announced on LinkedIn by Andriy Rogovsky, a strategic partner of Wellfound Europe (Ukraine) — a company that is a partner of startup.biz.ua for internships and employment.
The official task in this position is to criticize mercilessly, even if you like everything, as well as to dig into weak points and ask the most unpleasant questions.
That’s why the post says it’s «a position for a toxic person to act as the Devil’s Advocate.» The need to introduce such a role arose because of artificial intelligence.
As Andriy explained to dev.ua, applicants for participation in the IT program often come up with unrealistic ideas with the help of AI to fill out the application. AI itself, which is known for its flexibility, is not capable of working in the «critic» mode. Therefore, they plan to transfer this role to a person in order to avoid failed projects in the future.
We need a specialist with fact-checking and critical thinking skills. «Understanding the illogicality of people, the ability to think like a fool. The ability not to just say „no“, but to convince why „yes“ will be worse,» Andriy added. According to the post, the vacancy includes the following responsibilities (we quote verbatim):
to anger sweet, positively-minded teams, to harshly throw them from heaven to earth and trample them in the dirt;
to spoil the unhealthy working atmosphere, to show everyone who they really are, so that the team finally starts doing what is needed and stops doing what is not needed;
ask stupid questions, predict negative scenarios, hear with your gut where problems are possible;
save from potential losses.
According to Andriy, the hiring process is classic: «An interview to understand whether such a job would be interesting to the candidate and whether the candidate himself would be interesting to the team.»
Candidates will also take a test task. «This is a demonstration of actual skills on a practical example, when part of the project is realistic and the other part is fiction. You need to determine this,» Andriy explained.
The salary will be determined based on the test results.
«The size of the salary and other parameters are determined not by me, but by the partner. But I can say for sure that there is money in this area — for example, Meta officially hires Juns and pays serious money. Many do this without advertising,» Andriy added.
Unexpectedly for the startup.biz.ua team itself, the vacancy gained considerable popularity.
«There are a lot of applicants, all the interview slots are taken, I didn’t even think that a vacancy would come up like this. I’m sure everyone is tired of the positivity generated by AI or the environment,» Andriy said in a comment to dev.ua.
